Apium printer boasts nozzle for composites

Issue: May 2018

P220 Like the entire line of printers from Apium, this fused-filament-fabrication machine can be used to make very complex parts for a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, oil, gas and electronics. The printer is especially useful for R&D applications and prototyping. It features an advanced extruder, which is able to process compound polymers, including a resin that contains 316L steel. Apium also supplies acetal copolymer, polyetherimide and polyvinylidene fluoride resins that can be used with the printer.

What’s new? An optional nozzle that can be used for composites like carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers. Also, Apium has upgraded the printers’ heaters.

Benefits Reliable, repeatable production of high-quality parts using specialty materials. Designed for use with engineering polymers, the printer is built to control the crystallinity of PEEK.
