Husky updates system for packaging

Multi-Layer Technology Husky has expanded the capabilities of its Multi-Layer Technology injection molding system, which, until now, has been used exclusively with PET. The packaging-specific system, which is based on Husky’s HyperSync platform machines, includes an injection molding press, mold and hot runner. It is designed for molding containers such as cans, coffee pods and small jars.

What’s new? Applicability to a wide variety of materials and types of packaging. The company optimized the entire system, including the melt-
delivery system, mold and controls.

Benefits Ability to precisely dose the barrier layer. Featuring an advanced melt-delivery system and sophisticated controls, the system gives users the ability to switch to plastic from nonplastics. It can produce packages with a wide range of barrier content, while delivering up to 50 percent savings on barrier material costs for some applications.
