Agr International system inspects preform color inline during blow molding operations

Oct. 1, 2019
Debuting at K 2019, Agr's new Pilot Vision+ system of cameras can inspect the color quality of more than 100,000 preforms an hour.
Pilot Vision+ With the ability to manage as many as six cameras at once, Agr’s latest in-line inspection system provides optical gauging and thickness measurement of blow molded containers. Designed to work with high-speed, reheat stretch blow molding equipment, the system’s cameras monitor the color of preforms. The system tracks defects by type and mold/spindle. It also can be combined with Process Pilot, an Agr system that inspects the material distribution of ultralight bottles.

What’s new? The system, which will be displayed this month at K 2019.

Benefits The ability to automatically take multiple, accurate measurements at once on a bevy of styles of containers and preforms, and suitability for inspections of parts made with recycled PET. Designed for ease of use, the system can handle more than 100,000 parts per hour and is sensitive to color inconsistencies. Using reference images, the system can judge when a part’s color has fallen outside acceptable range — an important test when dealing with parts made from recycled resin. In addition, the Pilot Vision+ offers advanced tools to simplify job setup, and features a large image display, comprehensive data capture and Industry 4.0 communications. The unique lens design of its cameras means there’s no need for mechanical lens adjustments, and it simplifies changeovers.
