LP20VRE Sodick's new vertical injection molding machine has 22 tons of clamping force, features Sodick's V-Line two-stage plunger system, and comes with a rotary table to help shorten cycle times. At NPE2018, an LP20VRE produced 100-micron filter screens from PEEK in an eight-cavity mold. With a 4.5-gram barrel capacity, the press used a 2mm plunger stroke for a 0.18-gram shot size for each cycle, including mold, sprue and runner — a unique achievement, according to the company.

What's new? The press, which is distributed in the U.S. by Plustech, the North American branch of Sodick's injection molding machinery division.

Benefits Short cycle times tailored to micro-overmolding applications. These requirements are often needed in lightweighting of parts and production of electronics and medical parts. The press is well-suited for both semi-automatic molding of small-quantity, high-value parts and fully automatic, fast-cycle mass production.
