New Fusion3 printer is appropriate for short runs, prototyping

Fusion3's newest fused-filament-fabrication 3-D printer, the F410, is capable of both rapid part prototyping and short production runs, and can use a wide range of materials.

F410 Fusion3's newest fused-filament-fabrication 3-D printer is capable of both rapid part prototyping and short production runs, and can use a wide range of materials, including PET/PET-glycol, ABS, carbon-fiber-filled materials and nylon. It comes with a 0.4mm print head for the finest detail. Interchangeable 0.6mm and 0.8mm heads are available, offering faster print speeds for applications where lower resolution is acceptable. The printer, which costs $4,599, can produce parts as large as 14 inches by 14 inches by 12.4 inches.

What's new? The model, an upgrade from the F400. It has an updated touch-screen interface, extruder and 32-bit on-board controller. The extruder's filament detection feature allows customers to resume printing where they left off in the event that the printer jams or runs out of filament.
