725 series Guill Tool developed this extrusion crosshead as part of a partnership with one of its customers to convert a production line for tray cable applications from a tandem line that applied two layers of PVC using two heads a distance apart into a co-extrusion line with a single head applying both PVC layers in a single operation. Using the crosshead, the first layer is fixed and the second is adjustable, with the ability to accept two extruders from the same side via a heated manifold assembly. The crosshead features all-stainless-steel construction and includes the company’s SealRight system of self-aligning tapered deflector and body design and its patented Guill Feather Touch concentricity adjustment.

Benefits Higher efficiency and improved profit potential. Product quality also is improved, because melt adheres to melt rather than extrudate, and the inner layer is not exposed to the environment, eliminating the chance of contamination between the layers.
