Guill rotary heads save resin

Dec. 7, 2022
The newest models, available in multiple designs, can run at up to 1,000 rotations per minute.

Rotary heads Guill Tool has a patented design for the rotating tip and die on its rotary crossheads and in-line heads. The rotary motion increases the wall strength of the extrusion, allowing thinner walls that require less material to serve the same function as a traditionally produced extrusion. Rotary heads are typically used to produce medical and multi-lumen tubing, as well as for some high-end extrusions with requirements for interlocking layers or multiple striping.

What’s new? The design of the rotary heads, which doubles their rotating speed compared with earlier versions, allowing models to run at up to 1,000 rotations per minute.

Benefits Cost savings. The greater strength imparted by the rotation decreases the amount of resin used, and there is no need for secondary processes such as eliminating weld or parting lines. Designs include a counter-rotating tip and die, co-rotating tip and die, rotating die with conventional tip and rotating tip with conventional die. Other configurations include crosshead or in-line, multi-layer, striping and a variety of profiles. As an option, quick-change cartridges that minimize cleaning downtime are available. These new models are being offered as turnkey packages that include a die cart, tools and all the accessories necessary for installation and maintenance.
