Hasco hot runner eliminates shadows created by flow disruptions

The 3D printed Streamrunner Shadowfree divides material flow into streamlined channels, reuniting them at the point where the valve pin enters the melt channel.

Streamrunner Shadowfree Equipped with nozzles from Hasco, the company’s new hot-runner manifold system addresses a common problem with traditional injection molding — shadows created by flow disruptions around the valve pin. Such shadows can lead to plastic degradation and suboptimal color transitions. To deal with this issue, the 3D printed Streamrunner Shadowfree divides material flow into streamlined channels, reuniting the channels at the point where the valve pin enters the melt channel. The system is appropriate for highly sensitive materials.  

What’s new?  The hot runner, released by Hasco at Fakuma 2023 in Germany. It follows on the company’s introduction of the Streamrunner Multicolour earlier this year. 

Benefits Reduced waste and better part quality, thanks to the gentle material flow and reduction in pressure losses facilitated by the Steamrunner Shadowfree, as well as the elimination of dead spots, shadow formulations and spider lines. In addition, using the Shadowfree technology, molders can realize up to 40 percent faster color changes; testing has revealed the transition from black parts to white parts can take just 25 cycles.
