Premixing station and mixing head are tailored to process expandable graphite filler, which serves as a flame retardant for products used in automotive and industrial applications.

PU RIM system KraussMaffei’s system for reaction injection molding PU foam consists of a premixing station, metering skid, mixing head, boom or robot, foam tool and optional post-processing equipment.

What’s new? A premixing station and mixing head that are tailored to process expandable graphite filler, a material that serves as an economical flame retardant for products used in automotive and industrial applications. The premixing station features a special agitator that does not damage the graphite particles. The high-pressure mixing head is equipped with a low-pressure bypass that has an enlarged cross section, minimizing the mechanical stress applied to the expandable graphite. The system can create parts that have up to 80 percent filler by weight.

Benefits Fast, gentle, automated processing of sensitive expandable graphite. Additionally, unlike in low-pressure processing, the self-cleaning mixing head eliminates the need for a flushing process after each shot, saving raw material and production time and ensuring consistent product quality.
