L3 2X Based on Zed Industries' traditional L3 thermoformer, this customized pressure former can use hot air, ambient air or cold forming air, along with vacuum, to form products from multilayer films. It has 20 individually controlled, 1,300-degree Fahrenheit insulated ceramic heaters and can form using pressures of up to 100 pounds per square inch.
What's new? The made-to-order machine, which the company anticipated shipping early this fall. The "2X" in the product's name designates one of its key innovations — the use of two separate forming chambers, allowing Zed Industries' customer to make two products at once, using either the same or different molds.
Benefits Effective heating of multilayer film. The machine has been specially designed to handle film that needs to be annealed in the mold to retain its shape and strength. The machine can perform cycles that previously took 3.5 minutes in about a minute.
