Kiefel Speedformer now faster, more precise

The KMD 78.2 Premium steel rule cutting machine has a range of improvements.

Speedformer KMD 78.2 Premium Kiefel has introduced the successor to its popular Speedformer KMD 78.1 Premium steel rule cutting machine that brings a range of enhancements to its production of polymer thermoformed packaging. The company’s new model, the Speedformer KMD 78.2 Premium, maintains the same forming area and process control as its predecessor. It also offers convenient operation through its user-friendly HMI equipped with a large touch screen.

What’s new? Updated pick-and-place capabilities. Kiefel’s Pick&Place Inline is a dual stacking system that can be used with an existing up-stacking tool, and has an improved pusher servo-drive, allowing it to accommodate higher production speeds.

Benefits Faster, more precise production. The new machine features a bigger vacuum and forming air system, as well as more powerful servo-drives for the forming, punching and cutting stations. This allows for faster production speeds and higher outputs, with up to 45 cycles per minute. The machine also has faster heater-bank response, offering greater precision and resulting in higher-quality products. Additional diagnostics and the machine’s more-intelligent automated lubrication improve maintenance tasks, while its simple tool-change capabilities make switching film between production runs faster.
