New Pig, Tipton, Pa., recently introduced large, high-visibility kits for cleaning up oil, fuel and other spills.
• A door pocket that holds printed instructions, spill plans and other documents;
• Front swivel casters that improve pivoting and handling;
• Three shelves instead of two for additional storage space.
The new carts store more spill supplies than most available spill carts and offer three times more storage space than the original Pig Spill Caddy, the company said. The design allows workers to find the right absorbent without having to dig through a storage container. The cart’s large swing-out doors and flip-top lid provide quick access to cleanup materials.
Eight-inch rear wheels and front swivel casters allow quick movement of the cart across uneven floors and through doors and aisles. The cart stores personal protective equipment to protect cleanup crews and a mounted roll of Pig Mat for quickly absorbing spills.
The HDPE caddy has numerous applications for plastics processors.
“The kit would be used for hydraulic leaks from molding equipment — including injection, blow molding, etc., in the plastics industry,” said Chris Iuzzolino, product operations manager. “It could also be used near loading docks for spills that may occur or in liquid storage areas where bulk liquids are kept. The product could also be used as an absorbent dispensing station for everyday absorbent needs on the plant floor.”
The company has released three versions of the caddy. Prices range from $735 to $885.
The universal version of the Pig Big Daddy Spill Caddy is for absorbing oils, coolants, solvents and water. The cart holds a mounted roll of absorbent mat, blue absorbent socks, mat pads, loose absorbent and wipes. It can handle spills of up to 44.6 gallons.
The Pig Oil-Only Big Daddy Spill Caddy is designed to absorb oils and fuels but not water. It holds a mounted Pig Stat-Mat Roll, static-dissipative absorbent socks, Pig Stat-Mat Pads, oil-only loose absorbent, and wipes. It can handle spills up to 43 gallons.
Pig HazMat Big Daddy Spill Caddy is for cleaning up acids, bases and unknown liquids. It holds a mounted Pig HazMat Roll, Pig HazMat chemical absorbent socks, pads, loose absorbent and Pig PolyPro wipes. It can handle spills up to 47.7 gallons.
